Liberty IT is Recognised as one of the Best Places to Work in the UK

Local company, Liberty IT, has been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK by The Great Place to Work® Institute.

Based in Belfast and Dublin, Liberty IT employs 400 people and is part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group’s IT operation.  Liberty IT was the only Northern Ireland organisation to be included on the 2014 Best Workplaces UK list. This is the third time Liberty IT has achieved this accolade.

The Best Workplaces Programme is the largest of its kind in the world and helps businesses improve performance by encouraging them to understand and improve their workplace culture by building trust and engagement. The assessment includes the Trust Index© Employee Survey and the Culture Audit© Questionnaire which examines how management creates trust and engagement in the workplace through various policies, practices and initiatives. Together these provide a holistic view of the organisation and how it is perceived by employees.

One hundred businesses from throughout the UK were recognised at a gala awards dinner in London and Liberty IT was one of only 45 businesses recognised in the medium sized category which includes organisations that employ between 50 – 499 people.

“It is an honour for us to be recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK,” said Dr William Hamilton, Managing Director, Liberty IT. “Achieving this recognition for the third time is a major accomplishment for our company. We understand the importance of creating an enjoyable working environment that is open, friendly and respectful. This has allowed us to build a team of highly engaged employees and a strong company culture, helping us to become a leading IT organisation.”

Cathy Donnelly, HR Director, Liberty IT added, “Taking part in the Great Place to Work Programme has made an extremely positive difference to our organisation.  Participation in the survey has increased year on year, with 93% of employees contributing their feedback this year. This enables us to create action plans which are focused on what is important to our employees, and in turn continually improve our workplace, engage and retain our talented employees and secure business success.”

Tom O’Byrne, Chief Executive, Great Place to Work® said,We are delighted to recognise a record 100 organisations which have achieved the coveted status of Best Workplace, one that has high trust and highly engaged employees. We know that this accolade is recognised by Best Workplaces and their audiences as the mark of a quality employer and can be a potent recruitment tool.  First and foremost though, all Best Workplaces recognise the strategic importance of creating and maintaining high trust, highly engaged workplaces as this can improve business performance and, for many, the bottom line. Organisations are increasingly recognising the value of company values when it comes to creating a successful workplace culture and driving their businesses forward. Indeed, many of this year’s Best Workplaces say it’s their values which are fundamental to who they are, what they do and what they achieve.”
