Liberty IT Staff Pack a Punch for TinyLife
For over 16 years, Liberty IT has been developing and supporting applications and websites exclusively for its parent company, Liberty Mutual Insurance. However, it’s not all about work for this Belfast and Dublin based company; in addition, Liberty IT actively encourages and supports employees to make a positive impact in their wider community.
Demonstrating this commitment, six brave Liberty IT employees have recently swapped their business attire for boxing gloves and are stepping into the ring to raise much needed funds for the company’s chosen charity partner for 2014, premature and sick baby charity, TinyLife.
Employees Christopher Bell, Thomas McGuinness, Ryan Kennedy, Shauna McKenna, Emer Bussmann and Paul Molloy, have signed up to an intensive six week programme at Monkstown Boxing Club which will see them living the life of professional boxers as they prepare for the fight night due to take place on 8th May in La Mon Hotel & Country Club.
The group, who will be supported by Liberty IT colleagues as well as friends and family on the night, are aiming to raise a combined total of £2000 for the charity. So far, preparation for the TinyLife Big Fight has proved to be one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of their lives to date.
Liberty IT employee and boxer, Thomas McGuinness, said: “I was nervous about starting the boxing at first, but it’s been a fantastic experience so far. Training is difficult but what makes it all the more easier is training with such a friendly group of people and great coaches putting us through our paces. With over 70 of our Liberty IT colleagues in attendance on Fight Night, hopefully we will raise lots of money for TinyLife as well as some much needed confidence for us boxers!”
