Serve with Liberty Volunteers Make a Difference

For Liberty IT employees, making a difference in the communities they live and work is a fundamental aspect of their company culture.

So much so that in May this year, 66 staff members from Belfast participated in Serve with Liberty, Liberty Mutual Insurance’s global employee community service program, with teams volunteering at a range of charities and community groups throughout NI including Sailability, Minnowburn, Growing Connections NI, Glenveagh Special School, St Marys Star of the Sea Primary School and Aaron House.

The teams received fantastic feedback from the groups they volunteered with.  Michelle Edgar from Growing Connections NI commented, “Thanks to the volunteers for their considerable efforts; they worked extremely hard and with great enthusiasm.  Their work is invaluable and will be enjoyed by our members and visitors to the farm.”

Likewise, Mr McGarry from St Mary’s Star of the Sea Primary School praised the volunteers for transforming their garden beyond recognition, “Staff members are delighted with the work and are very grateful for all that was achieved in a single day.  The volunteers are a real credit to Liberty IT showing responsibility and courtesy to all those they met here.”

However it wasn’t only the charities and community groups that benefited from taking part in the volunteering days. Lisa Mallaghan, a Software Engineer at Liberty IT, noted, “Serve with Liberty proved to be a very rewarding experience. It was a good team bonding event and I would encourage all teams to take part in events like this in the future.”

Overall in 2014, more than 26,000 Liberty Mutual Insurance employees completed over 2,400 projects on behalf of 900 charities in 19 countries throughout the world through Serve with Liberty.

Thank you to all of the volunteers for giving up their time to paint, clean, demolish and much more!
